Our Review: Restaurant KIN in Junglinster

We visited Restaurant KIN ourselves – here is our personal impression from many visits and regular orders.

Our Experience

Restaurant KIN in Junglinster has been one of the places we have relied on for years. We discovered it shortly before, or around the beginning of, the Covid period, when take-away was initially the main option. It quickly became a habit: we still order there regularly at weekends and occasionally go for lunch, mainly because the sushi tastes fresh and the quality has stayed consistent over the years.

Asian Cuisine with a Focus on Sushi

KIN offers a broad Asian menu with Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai specialities, so the choice goes well beyond sushi. For us personally, however, the Japanese side is the main draw, especially sushi rolls, sashimi and soups.

Atmosphere and Interior

The interior is simple, modern and pleasantly understated. Cool colours make the room feel rather clean and calm, while the large windows bring in plenty of daylight.

We find KIN quiet and comfortable overall. The spacing between tables is pleasant, and especially at lunchtime the noise level is low enough for an easy conversation.

Friendly, Unobtrusive Service

The service is friendly, attentive and pleasantly unobtrusive. The couple running the restaurant now know us by name, greet us personally and still remain discreet and professional. In the restaurant, we feel well looked after without the service feeling forced.

Sushi and Lunch at KIN

Our main reason for returning to KIN regularly is the sushi. It is not necessarily very experimental, but it wins us over with freshness, good flavour and quality that has stayed consistent for years.

Our favourites include the Dragon Roll and the Epic Roll. We also regularly order sashimi with rice, as well as miso or wonton soup.

At lunch, we usually choose sushi menu B with wonton soup. On our most recent visit, the menu cost 16.80 euros. This price should be understood as the price at the time of our last visit.

The portion size feels well balanced: you leave satisfied without feeling overly full. The presentation is also a plus, as sushi in the restaurant is often served on decorative plates or sushi boats.

Take-away and Delivery

In our experience, quality also remains consistent for take-away and delivery. Sushi, sashimi and soups taste just as reliable at home as they do in the restaurant.

One small drawback is ordering by phone: at busy times it can take a few minutes before someone answers.

If you want to collect or receive your food at a specific time, it is best to order between 18:00 and 19:00. Later orders can take noticeably longer depending on how busy the kitchen is.

Drinks

With sushi, we like to have a glass of Luxembourg Riesling. The choice fits the food well and rounds off the visit nicely, without drinks being the main focus for us.

Is KIN Good for Families?

KIN works for many different occasions. We go there for lunch and with family, and the quiet atmosphere also makes it suitable for an uncomplicated business lunch.

Children are welcome and high chairs are available. There is no special children’s offer or play area, so with younger children we often prefer take-away at home.

Warm Dishes and Value for Money

Although we almost always order sushi at KIN, we have tried warm Asian dishes once or twice as well, and they also convinced us in terms of taste.

Still, sushi clearly remains our first choice. Overall, we find the value for money very good, especially at lunchtime, but also for take-away and delivery.

A Small Drawback in Good Weather

One small downside is the lack of a terrace. On sunny days, we would like to sit outside.

Apart from that, many things work well for us: the restaurant is clean, quiet and pleasantly furnished, parking is straightforward and the station is only a short walk away.

Our Verdict

KIN is one of the most reliable restaurants for us in Junglinster. We have known it for many years, order regularly and also enjoy eating there in person.

Fresh sushi, consistent quality, friendly unobtrusive service and strong value for money are the reasons we keep coming back.

Despite small practical limitations such as the lack of a terrace or longer waits for later orders, we recommend KIN without hesitation.
