Which mobile provider is best in Luxembourg?

There is no universal winner. POST, Tango and Orange are the main mobile networks to compare. Look at coverage where you live and work, roaming, data allowance, contract duration and the real monthly cost after promotional periods.

How do I get a landline?

If you still want a home telephone, check the voice options included with current broadband packages. Traditional landline service has largely moved onto internet-based connections.

Do Luxembourg mobile plans require a contract?

It depends on the tariff. No-commitment options exist, but some offers — particularly those linked to a smartphone or promotional package — can involve a fixed commitment. Always check the specific plan conditions.

The market has changed considerably since this article was first published. Old package names and prices quickly become obsolete, so we no longer recommend choosing a provider based on a historic monthly price. Instead, compare the current tariff, connection speed, coverage, installation conditions and commitment period.

Main providers to compare

1. POST – post.lu

POST is Luxembourg’s established national operator and offers mobile, fibre/internet, television and fixed-voice services. It is an obvious benchmark when comparing network coverage and bundled home services.

2. Tango – tango.lu

Tango offers mobile and home services including internet and television. Check the current tariff carefully because commitment conditions can vary depending on the offer and whether a device is included.

3. Orange – orange.lu

Orange offers mobile and home connectivity in Luxembourg. Some mobile offers are available without a long commitment, while smartphone-linked offers can have different contractual conditions. Compare the exact tariff rather than assuming every Orange plan follows the same model.

4. Luxembourg Online – internet.lu

Luxembourg Online remains another provider to include when comparing home internet and telecommunications services.

5. Eltrona – eltrona.lu

Eltrona offers internet, television and telecommunications packages and is particularly worth comparing when you want bundled home services.

What happened to some of the old providers?

Earlier versions of this article listed providers and brands such as JOIN, Numericable/SFR and BananaSim alongside the main operators. The Luxembourg telecom market has changed since then, and these old recommendations are no longer useful as a current shortlist. We have therefore removed the historic package prices and obsolete provider recommendations from the main comparison.

What should you compare?

• monthly price after any introductory promotion;
• installation and activation costs;
• minimum contract duration and cancellation conditions;

• whether you really need television or a home-phone option.

Our experience

When we moved to Luxembourg, we chose Tango. At the time, reliable internet was the priority and we also needed mobile service. A landline was optional — and, to be honest, that has become even less important for many households now that mobile calling and messaging are always close at hand.

Telecom offers change frequently, so use this guide as a starting point and verify the current plan directly with the provider before signing a contract.
